The Potlatch is a powerful process that draws inspiration from the ceremonies held by the First Nations peoples of the Pacific Northwest, but does not attempt to imitate or copy them.
Instead, we use the idea of an initiation into our own deepest human purpose in front of a community, through the medium of ritual theater and shamanic dance, as a mechanism of finding profound meaning.
I believe we spend most of our time and our lives in the “wild” and the act of being pulled through into “human purpose” and having that delicate balance of purpose held and witnessed for us by others is not only a great honor, but incredibly necessary. Doing this in ritual format is possibly the only way to accomplish it.
I have developed a process that allows the individual’s story to resonate for them and heal threads in the collective.
Hear from participants:
“The Potlatch process has been a transformative journey of connection with deeper layers of sisterhood and community. In a world where we often lack ceremony, this sacred celebration of self and the act of being seen by those who hold us reminds of our shared abundance and interconnectedness. It’s a powerful expression of collective healing and growth that honors both the individual and the whole.” – Stephanie K.D., doula
